Shop your Closet for NYE! - Part 2

Hi Ladies,
Here's another look I've put together using items from my closet. Checkout my first look here: Shop your Closet for NYE! - Part 1. The dress is Micheal Kors which I got on trade from a consignment shop. It was 2 sizes too large, so I spent $40 tailoring it to my size.  I added a bright moto jacket that I'd bought earlier in the season and a pair of pumps from last year. A swipe of bright lip gloss and I'm done! If you are interested in creating a similar look, see below. (The jacket is on sale and I've found some lovely similar dresses.) See you in 2014!

Shop your Closet for NYE! - Part 1

Hi Ladies,
Today's post is part 1 of a 2-part episode! In this mini-series I'll show you two outfits that I created for NYE using items from my closet. If you are interested in creating a similar look, checkout the items in the grid below.

I snagged these shorts on the sale rack at Banana Rep for $10. It was fall at the time and I believe they were a left over from summer, but the color was a nice dark blue and they utilized a heavy fabric so I knew they would work in the winter. I added a staple black blouse, black pumps and Voila!

BONUS: Finally, if you still can't find anything and it's 7pm on NYE... grab your LBD, add some of these accessories and go!

Update your Daily Makeup Look for $8! (Product Review)

Hi Ladies,
I was happy to receive the Rimmel London Show Off Lip Lacquer in Luna and NYC HD Color Trio Eye Shadow from Influenster to review. I originally planned to compare them to a more expensive nude eyeshadow and lip gloss that I own, but the second set of pictures turned out so bad, that there would've been no contest...LOL. So, instead I'll show you how to update your daily makeup look for only $8! The NYC HD Eyeshadow is a nice set of nudes that I can see working for fair to medium skin tones and the Rimmel lip gloss is a nude with a hit of coral, so it creates a nice warm shade. PLUS, you can buy both for $8 total! Question: what are your favorite wallet-friendly makeup items?

  • For the eyeshadow, I applied a primer and then swiped the lightest shadow all over my eye area. Then I used the darkest shade in the crease and the left side of the eye lid. Finally, I applied the medium color under the brow.

Pros:
  • Lip Gloss: Price. Nice, warm, nude shade. Texture was satiny, not sticky.
  • Eyeshadow: Price. Surprising amount of pigment for $3. Applied smoothly, and I didn't notice any streaking or fading.

Cons:
  • Lip Gloss: Streaky, but this often happens to me when I use shades lighter than my natural lip color.
  • Eyeshadow: The brown section of the trio was not dark enough to use in my crease, however lighter skin tones would not have this problem.

Vintage Inspired Dress (Winter 2013 Remix #6)

Hi Ladies,
Merry Christmas!!! I hope that all of you who have lots of shopping to do or are hosting Christmas dinner will find sometime to relax between now and Wednesday. If not, know that your children and family members will really appreciate the outcome of your efforts. :) Now, on to clothes! I call this look my Anthropologie knock off look. (I'm too cheap to shop at Anthro...I hate to spend all that money and then have to alter the heck out clothing. However, now they are offering petites online, so I will check out their end of season sale.) Anyway, the dress and pin are from Loft and I just added one of J. Crew Factory's staple cardigans and bow belt from Asos. Now I feel very vintagey and cool. Question: Has anyone tried the Anthropologie Petite Line? What do you think? Any suggestions for shopping at Anthro?
