Pink Positive Breast Cancer Awareness with Kiyonna

Hi Ladies,
As you know, October is Breast Cancer Awareness month. In honor of this illness and to remind people to be conscious of early detection, one of my favorite curvy clothing designers (Kiyonna) has released a limited edition crochet pink cardigan! I love waterfall cardigans for the fall and this one is a nice shade of dusky pink that goes well with a lot of autumnal colors. Please note that the standards for checking breast cancer have recently changed, and the tagline from CNN is "New breast cancer guidelines: screen later, less often!" (source) So, please read this brief article for more details. As always, if you are interested in this cardigan, Kiyonna's best deal right now is 20% off orders of $150 or more at Kiyonna.com with code FALL2015! Be sure to check out their "Real Curves" section in the sidebar to see how other bloggers have rocked this top! :)

While we are on this topic, keep an eye on your moles, too! Being African American, skin cancer was never high on my list of things to worry about; however, I have fried myself to a literal, peeling crisp a few times in my life, so I know it's not impossible. Therefore, when I noticed a mole on my chest start to change shape, I immediately went to my dermatologist and had it removed. It was a quick and virtually painless visit. So, don't let concerns like that keep you from seeing a doctor. (Just don't look in the test tube after they are done....yuck!)

Soft Launch of "Jewelry for All Sizes"

Today, I'm soft-launching another solution for women to get more love out of their wardrobes! Have you ever had the problem of not being able buy bangles, because they slip off your wrists? I have! Have you even fallen in love with a ring at a store and then found that it only goes up to a XL, and XL would take the Jaws of Life to get it off? I have! :( Therefore, I've decided to begin offering Jewelry for All Sizes! This is a line of adjustable and sized jewelry that I'll be selling through an online shop. I'm starting with this adjustable gold, double pearl ring that goes wonderful with fall colors. I really like the creaminess of these faux pearls, because they go well with russets, oranges, cranberries, cedar green, etc. In addition, all items ship for free!
Most importantly, this effort gives me the chance to do something I haven't been able to do a lot this year: financially help the community. I've donated my time this year, but I haven't really been in the position to donate financially like I used to do. I'm still working through the details, but I like the idea of donating career appropriate jewelry to Dress for Success as they help clothe and train woman returning to work. I also want to use some of the proceeds to financially support Girls who Code. (As a female in the IT world, I loved learning to code but had never considered majoring in it until I took my first mandatory elective. Programming, even if it's learning basic Access or how to write Excel macros, is extremely empowering to any business owner, manager of the household or college student. More details to come! :)

Gold Double Pearl Ring, $20 (free shipping in US!)

Old Navy Jewelry Shopping Haul

Hi Ladies,
I'm really excited about today's post! First of all, I finally did something that I've been putting off for years: making a you tube video!! I actually recorded one the day I launched my blog (2 years ago), but was immediately horrified by how I sound on tape and vowed never to release it. LOL. Well, 2 years later, I've overcome my fears, learned how to work my computer camera and dusted off my You Tube page. Here we go!

14 Ways Jewelry can Spruce up a Tee for Spring

14 Ways to Spruce up a Tee for Spring!Hi Ladies,
Have you checked out Nordstom's jewelry section lately? (BTW...they now carry Baublebar in their stores.) OMG!! They have some cute stuff and a lot of it is surprisingly well priced. (They can't beat F21, but the quality is definitely better. :) ) After getting all excited, I realized that between Hautelook, Wantables and Banana Republic, I'd already bought a ton of jewelry this spring. Therefore, I did the next best thing and curated a set for you. Hope you enjoy! (Checkout the bottom of the page for a funny story. :) )

A Riot of Color: Spring Cleaning in the K. Household

Hi Ladies,
In honor of spring, I decided to do a little cleaning...not the boring kind, like dusting and mopping, but the fun kind, like organizing my jewelry! I know some bloggers have figured out how to store all of their jewelry in drawers and little boxes, but I've decided to go with the "anti-minimalist" route. I call it "A Riot of Color", which I'm sure I've heard somewhere else, and it falls under the philosophy of "If it's pretty...show it off"!

I bought all of the storage items from Home Goods, Target and Ikea. I hope you have fun decorating and would love to see how you do it!

I also want to send a special shout out to Elba at Live Colorful! She has the best taste in colors and I always find her site inspiring. Check out her post on spring decoration: here!

Rocks Box Review (Plus a side of Chow Locally)

Hi Ladies,
It's Wednesday...hump day! Only two more days until friends, shopping and happy hours take over our lives. So, to get the fun started early, I want to answer two important questions: should you rent jewelry and should you let someone who you don't know and has never met you select said jewelry? Let's find out!

My Gifts to Me for Xmas (January Wantable Accessory and Makeup Box Review/ We Are Onyx Review)

Hi Ladies,
I decided to treat myself to a few subscription services for christmas this year, but then a few became 5 and now I have 7! I had no idea that there are so many different types available now: vegan cosmetics, makeup only, jewelry only, clothing only...even one for rich folks that costs a $1000 a month (I am not making this up)! So check out below and see what the market has to offer. :)

1. Wantable Accessory Box $36/ month (Value: $80)
When I first read this concept, I immediately poo-pooed it because I hate cheap looking jewelry. I thought that there was no way that you could deliver 4/5 pieces of jewelry for $36 that I would want to wear. However, when I got the box I was pleasantly surprised.
Other pluses are that the survey is extremely detailed. If you want to tell them that you hate acrylic bangles, but love leather cuffs...there is a question for you. They say that they will never send you what you dislike and send you most of what you love. I could see this service being great for people who want unique pieces of jewelry that your won't see on everyone else.
  • Contents: I love the necklace and wore it that weekend. The teal earrings are super cute and something I would definitely grab. The ring is so-so, it fit a little tight and I feel kind old to be wearing a rhinestone heart, but it's not a big deal. I also love the dangly silver earrings that look like lace.
  • Verdict: Very pleased. I will continue.

It's Bow-tastic! (Etsy Accessory Roundup)

Yes, I know its a corny post title...but I love it! :) How's your week going so far? Today I wanted to show you two of my favorite Etsy accessory purchases this year. (No, this is not a sponsored post :-)).

1. The first items are these adorable vintage inspired shoe clips by French Garden Shoes (she isn't offering the exact ones, so I've linked to a similar pair). I added them to a pair of simple Ann Taylor Slingbacks for a modern/ vintage look.

2.  The second item I'm loving is this blue bow tie bracelet by Georgia Brown Designs. I've seen them on other websites for a lot more and couldn't justify the price, but these are much more affordable. :)

What are your favorite Etsy finds?
