How to Style a Swing Dress

How to Style a Swing Dress | Curvy Outfit Ideas | Petite Outfit Ideas | Plus Size Fashion | Fall Fashion | OOTD | Professional Casual Chic Fashion and Style Inspiration

Hi Ladies,
You know how I've been raving about Old Navy's dresses this year? Well, their fall collection does not disappoint! I got this jersey swing dress in a few different colors because it's the perfect thing to throw on for running errands or to dress up for a night out. This is the Petite length, but I also got a few in Misses from the store. They come in all sorts of fall colors, plus two stripes. One thing to note is that the Petite length is a little short in the back, so no running! :)

Pink, Black and Stripes

Pink, Black and Stripes | Curvy Outfit Ideas | Petite Outfit Ideas | Plus Size Fashion | Fall Fashion | OOTD | Professional Casual Chic Fashion and Style Inspiration
This past Sunday I got to meet up with Regan from Regan In My Own World! She's another Charlotte blogger with cute style. I can't tell you how much fun it is to do a photo shoot with another person and she's so sweet! It can get really boring taking pictures by yourself with a remote and tripod. Besides, you can get really cute, candid shots when someone else is pulling the trigger. (These aren't the pictures we took, but I'll start sharing them next week.) Can't wait!

How to Wear Pantone's Fall Colors: Dried Herb

Hi Ladies,
Today is the first day of my new series: "How to Wear Fall Colors". If you don't know, Pantone picks six or so colors every season and dictates, I mean touts them as the season's colors. Then, everyone from clothing companies to furniture manufacturers falls in line and Volia! you can pick out a desk to match your pants! I've started with Dried Herb, which looks suspiciously like olive green to me.

Shop your Closet for NYE! - Part 2

Hi Ladies,
Here's another look I've put together using items from my closet. Checkout my first look here: Shop your Closet for NYE! - Part 1. The dress is Micheal Kors which I got on trade from a consignment shop. It was 2 sizes too large, so I spent $40 tailoring it to my size.  I added a bright moto jacket that I'd bought earlier in the season and a pair of pumps from last year. A swipe of bright lip gloss and I'm done! If you are interested in creating a similar look, see below. (The jacket is on sale and I've found some lovely similar dresses.) See you in 2014!

Why Pastel Camo Works for Fall!

Ok, I'm not going to over analyze this question...it's just pretty...I like it...I'm wearing it...I hope you like it too. Done. :-)
Now, on to the rest of the article...
So this is what I envision the military would wear if Barbie designed the uniforms. Note the pastel aqua that permeates this looks, blends in with nothing and would dirty with slightest gust of wind. Also take note of the pointy toe flats with the delicate ankle strap that would surely tear if I did any running. Good thing I'm in IT and not the military, because I had to have these pants when I saw them at Gap. Have i mentioned that I love anything in the aqua and teal family? I couldn't justify the full price, because I knew I couldn't wear them enough, but now that they are on sale I snagged them for about $12!

Easy and Sophisticated way to get the BRIGHTS Trend from your Closet! (Fall 2013 Remix Outfit #9)

Hello Ladies,
As you probably know by now...I love bright colors! Therefore, I'm remixing this skirt again with a black tee. That's the simplest way to handle a bright bottom...pair it with a black, charcoal gray or white top because everyone has one. Now, in order to make things interesting, play with texture. I did this by adding a black rhinestone necklace, a black purse with gold hardware and patent leather heels. Each of these pops against the plain matte tee, but does so in a sophisticated way! (See Fall 2013 Remix: Shopping Haul! for additional details.)

I'd love to hear your strategies for wearing brights. :)

In addition, I want to give loads of credit Bree Hamilton of Bree Hamilton Photography for taking these fabulous pictures! :)

A Feminine Take on Menswear (Fall 2013 Remix Outfit #10)

Hello Ladies,
I'm a sucker for layers, even though it's still 80 degrees in phoenix! Try using a blue and white or black and white striped shirt as a neutral and pair it with a colored sweater...it's more unexpected than a white shirt. (See Fall 2013 Remix: Shopping Haul! for additional details.)

I also want to credit Bree Hamilton of Bree Hamilton Photography for these pictures. She really did a fabulous job! :)

Kicking up Khaki!

Hi Ladies,
Here's to a great start to your week!

Kick up khaki with a pop of color on top! Also, if you are wearing a long, solid skirt try throwing on a belt...it will help break up the color and define your waist.

Color Explosion - Ban Rep Sloan Skirt!

Hi Ladies!
Who said that color is only for summer and spring?!! Not Banana Republic! With the introduction of 5 new colors for the sloan skirt, we can be bright and beautiful all through the winter. :) Also, the classic cut of this skirt makes it perfect for work, church, brunch, meeting the in laws, going to court, talking yourself out of a speeding ticket, etc, etc. I've suggested a few ways to wear them below, but if you get stuck with any of the colors...grab a solid gray top or one in a graphic black and white print and go!

Let me know if anyone buys one! I'm definitely getting the green!

5 Steps to take Pearls from Churchy to Chic (Fall 2013 Remix Outfit #7)

Hello Ladies,
Today I have the pleasure of being a part of a link up w/ the fabulous Lauren Slade from Style Elixir, as well as my fantastic co-hosts: Alyssa and Allison!

Pearls can be fabulous! They will add a glow to any skin tone, go with any color and automatically make you look classy! The problem is that sometimes they make you look too classic, as in 'out dated'. So, how to avoid that?
1. Grab a strand, preferably a triple strand like the one I have below (this is what it normally looks like)
2. Twist them. Tighter if you want a choker look or looser if you want them to hang longer.
3. Add a casual top, like a nice tee or a fitted cotton sweater. You are going for a juxtaposition between fancy and laid back.
4. Add some denim. I've opted for a chambray skirt, but jeans in any color are perfect too. If you are feeling creative, try a pair of boyfriend jeans rolled a few inches above the ankle.
5. Tie the different styles together with ballet flats or heels and you are done!
