April Wantables & Nailette Review

Hi Ladies,
I got my April Nailette and Wantables box, and more importantly...I'm blogging about them in the same month! Firstly, let's talk about Nailette. For $9.99 a month, you get two shades selected for you based on your interests and skin tone. (If you are interested in signing up, use the code meredith50 and you will receive 20% off your first box.)

I tried Style Hunter on my toes and it's a great fruit punch color. I also gave myself a manicure with it, see below, and it reminded me of why I HATE painting my own nails. This particular polish is kind of thick, making it hard to spread and therefore it got on my cuticles. Sometimes, I couldn't get close to the cuticle, which created an awkward line. Then, of course I couldn't sit still and wait for them to dry, so I wound up smudging 3 out of 10 fingers. Now, after less than 24 hours, I just noticed that the thumb has chipped! :( Ugh...therefore, I will always be a Natural-Fingernail-Gal! (Except when I'm taking pictures and want to come across as naturally sophisticated and together.)

Now, for a professional looking manicure, let's checkout Gumdrop. It's is a pale aqua and you can see from The Polish Aholic's pics that it's beautiful! I bought a similar color from Essie last year, but this one is a little more blue. (Also, checkout her cute puppy and kitty inspired polishes here.)

Now, on to Wantables. (What is it? For $36 a month each I receive a hand-selected makeup and jewelry box. Their customer service is excellent and they will help you tweak your profile so that your tastes are reflected accurately. Also, if you don't like what you get, returns are free! If you are interested in signing up, click here.)

As for my makeup box, first let me say that even thought I received stellar and useful products this month, they are very similar to last month's and the one before that...While I can always use more mascara, I now have 4 blushes that are all about the same color. I'll have to send them an email and see what I need to change in my profile. Here's what I received:
  • COMPRESSED MINERAL BLUSH RENEE ($27)
  • FAT LIP PENCIL BOSSY BOOTS ($18)
  • EYELINER PENCIL 01 BLACK ($7)
  • EXTREME VOLUMIZING MASCARA BLACK ($19)
TOTAL VALUE = $71

My Jewelry box was very interesting this month. You know that I'm into bold colors, and this month was mostly pastels. I have to say that I wouldn't have picked any of these items myself, but I like that they are pushing me into new territory. I also like that they include styling suggestions. For instance, they suggested that I pair the silver watch with bright fuchsia nail polish, which I tried above.

Here's how I wore a few of the items:

  1. OK. 1) For your nails, have you tried a quick dry top coat? I like Sally Hansen Insta-Dri. Anyway, it's a game changer for painting your own nails! 2) Style hunter looks so good on you! 3) I want to buy the lip pencil BOSSY BOOTS just for the name. haha! Love these reviews!

  4. You sound like me when it comes to painting fingernails. I don't have the patience for it which is why I always keep my fingernails natural too. I do love Essie polish. I wonder if I love it because the bottle is so sweet, though? They certainly do a great job at presenting their product! That fruit punch color is pretty. It goes beautifully with your makeup and jewelry.

  10. I've never heard of the Nailette box before but it sounds like a great deal! I love collecting new nail polishes, and both of those colors are gorgeous. I'm still not sure what I think of Wantable... I'm always seeing mixed reviews. Thanks for sharing your boxes with us! :)
