Yipes for Stripes! (Winter 2013 Remix Outfit #3)

I love this suit! Firstly, because I love stripes, but also because it's kinda business casual. Most work environments (especially in IT) are business casual, but sometimes you want to rock a suit. The cotton/ poly material imediately makes the suit less formal and feels like I'm wearing leggings all day. :) (Photos were taken by Bree Hamilton of Bree Hamilton Photography.)

Rocking Jacquard for Work! (Winter 2013 Remix Outfit #2)

Hello Ladies,
I love to let Jacquard be the stand out piece, since it's jewel-toned and bright. Therefore, I recommend pairing it with a simple, neutral shirt and accessories. If you go for a plain tee, like I did, long necklaces are a great way to add interest but not compete with the Jacquard. (For additional details, see 2013 Winter Shopping Haul). Have a great day!

It's Bow-tastic! (Etsy Accessory Roundup)

Yes, I know its a corny post title...but I love it! :) How's your week going so far? Today I wanted to show you two of my favorite Etsy accessory purchases this year. (No, this is not a sponsored post :-)).

1. The first items are these adorable vintage inspired shoe clips by French Garden Shoes (she isn't offering the exact ones, so I've linked to a similar pair). I added them to a pair of simple Ann Taylor Slingbacks for a modern/ vintage look.

2.  The second item I'm loving is this blue bow tie bracelet by Georgia Brown Designs. I've seen them on other websites for a lot more and couldn't justify the price, but these are much more affordable. :)

What are your favorite Etsy finds?

Hi Ladies,
So, as you know, I started the fall season off with a Fall 2013 Capsule Wardrobe. I selected red as my primary color and added a few coordinating colors of Navy, Mustard and Winter Green. I loved that color combination, but had an issue when stores started releasing new items. What to do when you find other items to fall in love with, but you want to keep the clothes you've already own?
Well, not to fear :) ...you don't have to commit to one color palette for the whole season! See my 5 easy steps to update your wardrobe without upending your budget!
  1. Pick a new color palette that will coordinate with at least some of the colors from the first capsule. For this one, I've chosen oxblood, which is still very hot this year, it coordinates with every color from my first capsule, except for red.
  2. Go Shopping! But only buy items that coordinate with each other and the items you want to continue to wear in your current fall wardrobe.
  3. Give the sale racks a good once over! You may have passed over something at the beginning of the year that now looks fantastic with your new palette, plus it's probably on deep discount! Case in point, every item I bought was on sale, plus had an additional discount, with the exception of the pumps and necklace (they were 30% and 40% off respectively).
  4. Dig through that pile of clothes that you never wear (we've all got one) and see if there are any wardrobe orphans that will work with your new palette. I was able to find 2 blouses in a golden brown pattern that i barely wore last year!
  5. Have Fun!

Keep checking back...beginning in the next post, I will show how I mix and match these pieces!

Why Pastel Camo Works for Fall!

Ok, I'm not going to over analyze this question...it's just pretty...I like it...I'm wearing it...I hope you like it too. Done. :-)
Now, on to the rest of the article...
So this is what I envision the military would wear if Barbie designed the uniforms. Note the pastel aqua that permeates this looks, blends in with nothing and would dirty with slightest gust of wind. Also take note of the pointy toe flats with the delicate ankle strap that would surely tear if I did any running. Good thing I'm in IT and not the military, because I had to have these pants when I saw them at Gap. Have i mentioned that I love anything in the aqua and teal family? I couldn't justify the full price, because I knew I couldn't wear them enough, but now that they are on sale I snagged them for about $12!

Easy and Sophisticated way to get the BRIGHTS Trend from your Closet! (Fall 2013 Remix Outfit #9)

Hello Ladies,
As you probably know by now...I love bright colors! Therefore, I'm remixing this skirt again with a black tee. That's the simplest way to handle a bright bottom...pair it with a black, charcoal gray or white top because everyone has one. Now, in order to make things interesting, play with texture. I did this by adding a black rhinestone necklace, a black purse with gold hardware and patent leather heels. Each of these pops against the plain matte tee, but does so in a sophisticated way! (See Fall 2013 Remix: Shopping Haul! for additional details.)

I'd love to hear your strategies for wearing brights. :)

In addition, I want to give loads of credit Bree Hamilton of Bree Hamilton Photography for taking these fabulous pictures! :)

A Feminine Take on Menswear (Fall 2013 Remix Outfit #10)

Hello Ladies,
I'm a sucker for layers, even though it's still 80 degrees in phoenix! Try using a blue and white or black and white striped shirt as a neutral and pair it with a colored sweater...it's more unexpected than a white shirt. (See Fall 2013 Remix: Shopping Haul! for additional details.)

I also want to credit Bree Hamilton of Bree Hamilton Photography for these pictures. She really did a fabulous job! :)

Kicking up Khaki!

Hi Ladies,
Here's to a great start to your week!

Kick up khaki with a pop of color on top! Also, if you are wearing a long, solid skirt try throwing on a belt...it will help break up the color and define your waist.
